Give Yourself the Gift of Good Health

I was talking to a prospective client a couple of weeks ago and she made a comment that has really stuck with me. I asked her what was motivating her to start taking good care of herself.

She replied, “What better gift could I give my family?”

And that is so true.

When we give ourselves the gift of health (mental and physical), we offer our best selves not only to our families, but to the world. Women often have trouble with this, because it feels, well, selfish on some level. But the truth is, when we are depleted we serve no one.

Think about it.

If you knew that your mother, husband or child might be spared a premature death due to chronic illness by eating certain foods and avoiding others, moving more, and changing some habits, would you support them?

Would you shop and cook differently?

Would you take extra walks with them or ask them to quit smoking?

Of course you would. The least you can do for them is to do the same for yourself.

So, consider what you are wanting when it comes to your health and well-being in the coming year. Is it time to give yourself a very special gift?

Not everyone knows where to start when it comes to making changes. Just as you might need a financial advisor to help you with your finances, expecting to make health and lifestyle changes by yourself may be too much. You need a guide and some inspiration — and that’s where a health coach comes in very handy! Women in midlife experience many transitions…menopause, empty nest, and divorce are just few of the possibilities.

Any of these events can send your mojo right off the tracks!

Take a few moments at the end of this year to really assess your health status — mind, body and spirit.  From there, decide on a few baby steps you can take to begin to focus a little more on what YOU need.

If getting (and staying) healthy feels like a “hell yeah!” to you, but you don’t know where to begin, I invite you to give me a call (828-778-1808) or send me an e-mail at dranna@drannagarrett.com. Let’s talk about what you’re wanting…and how to get there. I offer a free 30-minute call to anyone who is interested in exploring what I offer and I’d love to chat with you!
